Re: Nvidia driver does not load on 4.15 and 4.9.0-6

the migration path hasn't been established so we'd expect migration from stable to testing will quite buggy. both dmesg and inxi command shows that you're already using nvidia so I'm quite sure you're already using it. you can try reinstall nvidia driver just to make sure of it. as for the missing p...

Re: upgrade kernel for new SSD

3.16 is actually newer than 3.2. the number isn't written in decimal. the first number is a major version number while the second one is minor version number. higher number usually means newer version

Re: Apparmor: cant open hyperlinks in Thunderbird

Code: Select all

    /path/to/thunderbird*/thunderbird{,.sh,-bin} Cx -> sanitized_helper,
since the main program in this case is thunderbird, we might need to add this line to ubuntu-email abstraction too. since I'm not using thunderbird you'll need to replace to the correct path.

Re: Upgrade plasma 5.8 to 5.12 on SolydK 9

yes...and you should. I'm not even sure if you could remove neptune OS component from your system. though, IMO it's a good thing. you can get all the goodness both from solydxk and neptune. however, please remember that your system is now closer to neptune so that you have to follow their migration ...

AFAIK all routers works on 2,4. you can use it for better compatibility. though, the default (automatic) setting usually works fine.

Re: SolydXK on Social Media

in general I believe more media channel is better. as a distro it should be better if both user and developer could easily interact each other. thus, having a social media IMO is a good option. I think we need to separate the Facebook scandal with this one. I do agree that using facebook might not t...

Re: Breakage and News tracker for debian testing [buster]

AFAIK debian only partially implement wayland. I guess you're lucky that there's no wayland app on your system.

EDIT: do you able to launch gtk 3 apps (ex: evince)

Re: solydx-system-adjustments-9

soldyxk-adjustment were made so that a debian user could easily migrate into solydxk. hence the name, solydxk-fying a debian. without this package a debian user would have to download all the packages, themes, reconfigure the desktop, etc...to get same solydxk "looks" and "OOTB experience". with sol...

Re: Lighten KDE

+1 cleaning and putting new thermal grease is a good start. in my experience, honestly, you can't do much to decrease the system load. even if you disable some service, when you start the browser it will eat all the resources. I usually goes with limiting either gpu/cpu performance. you can use tool...

Re: Thunar custom actions

I'm afraid not. AFAIK the process involves re-encoding regardless the output. the audio bits are streamed out then decoded into desired format. using m4a means that we will use aac compression instead of mp3. using aac indeed has some merits but in my experience the default setting simply doesn't cu...

Re: Upgrade plasma 5.8 to 5.12 on SolydK 9

something as complex as DE won't get backported  if you really want to use new plasma, the ethusiast version might be the safest way to get it on debian. the tutorial above is used if you want to mix sid and testing. you won't need that if you only want to get new plasma. unfortunately stable a...
